Title: Professional Development as an Ethical Obligation

Throughout this interactive session participants will examine how overtly addressing ethical practice promotes professional development and effective Music Therapy practice. Numerous case studies will be used to highlight and reinforce key concepts such as dual roles, boundary issues, informed consent, technology, assessment, treatment planning and disclosure. In addition the 2019 AMTA code of ethics will be explored to better understanding how the updated code will benefit everyday practice.
At the end of the session participants will:
Have an understanding of ethical concepts such as dual roles, boundary issues, confidentiality, and inappropriate use of technology.
Be able to apply key ethical concepts and principles to professional case studies.
Knowledge of the key aspects of the 2019 AMTA code of ethics.
